About the Hardware
1. How is the machine ventilated?
Beamo is equipped with an air pump and a powerful extractor. The air pump prevents material from burning, while the extractor removes smoke and fumes.
2. What is the size of the work area?
The work area measures 30 cm x 21 cm x 4.5 cm. It has a honeycomb tray for materials up to 3 cm thick. The tray can be manually adjusted or removed to accommodate materials up to 8 cm thick.
3. Does Beamo come equipped with a honeycomb cutting platform?
Yes. The platform can be manually removed, allowing an additional 22 mm of space for materials once removed. With Beamo’s bottom opening kit, there is no limit to the thickness of materials.
4. Where should I place Beamo?
The laser produces smoke and fumes when operating, so we recommend choosing a well-ventilated location and using the included exhaust hose for outdoor ventilation.
5. What maintenance actions are required?
To ensure the permanent quality of laser engraving or cutting, check and clean the lenses and mirrors regularly. Generally, once a week, but it depends on the frequency of use. Lubricate the rails and check the water level of the cooling tank regularly.
6. Are there any consumables?
For normal use, the CO2 laser tube has a lifespan of 6 months to 1 year. Lenses and mirrors can last a year or more with regular maintenance. If a replacement is needed, you can consult our tutorial to change the parts yourself. We are still compiling the price list and will update this information as soon as possible.
About the Laser
1. What is the power of the laser tube?
Beamo is equipped with a 30W 10,640-nm average CO2 laser tube.
2. What materials can Beamo cut and engrave?
Beamo can cut and engrave wood, leather, cardboard, acrylic, rubber, food, and more. The maximum cutting thickness is 5 mm (varies by material). Beamo can also engrave on anodized aluminum and stainless steel, but it does not have sufficient cutting power for these materials.
3. Is it possible to cut deeper than the specified maximum cutting thickness?
Yes. The specified maximum cutting thickness refers to a single cut at an average speed. If you reduce the cutting speed or repeat the cut, you can cut thicker pieces. For example, the maximum cutting thickness for acrylic is 5 mm, but you can cut 10 mm or thicker acrylic if you reduce the speed or make multiple passes.
4. Does the camera cover the entire work area?
Almost entirely. The camera will not cover the top margin by 1 cm. Please refer to the specifications for exact dimensions.
5. What safety precautions should I take?
Beamo is designed with several safety measures, such as lid-open detection and an emergency stop switch. However, it is always best never to leave Beamo unattended while it is operating.
6. Can Beamo cut metal?
The power levels are not sufficient to cut metal, but Beamo can engrave anodized aluminum and stainless steel with our special coating layer.
7. What is FLUX's stainless steel coating layer?
You can engrave on stainless steel with Beamo only if it is coated with our special coating. Before starting, cover the material with the coating for durable results.
